With less than a week to go before the Feb. 5 byelection, the NDP is bringing out its heavyweights for a final push in support of local candidate Suzanne Shawbonquit.

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath will join Shawbonquit for lunch and photo op at Pat and Mario’s Kouzzina. And federal NDP Leader Tom Mulcair will join them to tour Red Oak Retirement Residence, with a news conference to follow.

Later today, the trio will tour Cambrian College and then travel to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 in Minnow Lake for a tour and another photo-op.

They will be joined at 7 p.m. for a rally with Michael Layton – son of Jack, the late former party leader – at Shawbonquit's campaign office on Barrydowne Road.
