Almost 300 Ontario Nurses' Association members in northeastern Ontario went on strike Friday, after labour negotiations with the North East Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) came to an impasse.

Across the province, around 2,700 nurses working at nine of the 14 CCACs went on strike Jan. 30.

The Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant CCAC nurses voted to ratify an agreement with their employer.

The union has said wages for its members remains the main issue with the CCACs.

More to come.
