When Cambrian College grad Carson Lazier sat down to write his Medical Radiation Technologist exam in January 2014, he was just hoping to get a good mark.
He was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only did he do well, he got the highest mark in Canada of those who wrote the exam last year.
“I was shocked when I received the email about me having the highest mark in Canada on the CAMRT (Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists) exam,” Lazier said, in a press release. “I could not believe what I was reading at first. I was excited, and I’m happy that my hard work was recognized.”
More than 400 Canadian students wrote the CAMRT exam in 2014. They must pass the exam to become a licensed medical radiation technologist.
“I would say the medical radiation technology program at Cambrian has prepared me well for a successful career as a technologist,” said Lazier, who is working as a Casual employee at Trenton Memorial Hospital. “The program is very well taught and laid out for students. The teachers are very knowledgeable and will help you through your challenges.”
Cambrian Professor Brenda Cliff, who taught Lazier, says his top mark did not come as a surprise.
“Carson was an exemplary student from his first day here. It was a pleasure having him in our program, and his success is well earned.”
Lazier’s accomplishment will be recognized at the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists’ conference in May.
