As part of their commitment to furthering transparency and accountability, the Finance and Administration Committee is looking for feedback from residents on the Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) fund.

A public consultation meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 6 p.m. in the council chamber of Tom Davies Square.

The Healthy Community Initiative fund supports one of council’s strategic priorities; the promotion of Greater Sudbury as a healthy community. The HCI fund allows members of council the opportunity to enhance and promote harmonious community in their wards in support of advancing the healthy community priorities, in accordance with the Council Expense Policy and Healthy Community Initiative Fund Policy. Annual budget allocations are prepared during the year’s budget deliberations and approvals.

Residents wishing to discuss and provide feedback on the HCI fund including whether or not residents think the fund should continue, how it’s used and administered, and ways to redefine the policy, may do so by either filling out the online form, filling out the printed form or by attending the public consultation meeting. Those wishing to make a presentation at the public consultation meeting must register with the Office of the City Clerk by calling 311.

Those who cannot attend the March 24 meeting are welcome to submit written comments online at www.greatersudbury.ca/hci, starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27. Printed forms will also be available at your local Citizen Service Centre and Library.

All written comments will be provided to the Finance and Administration Committee, with a report expected to be presented to the committee in early spring.
