Noah Zander Ross spent his March break participating in the Ultimate Army Cadet Challenge.

Noah, a sergeant with 2964 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in Sudbury, was one of only 10 army cadets who participated in the inaugural Storm the Giant Regional Expedition.

This unique training opportunity took place at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park near Thunder Bay, Ont.

After first completing a day and a half of pre-training, Ross started a six-day expedition, including two days of cross-country ski touring, a day of snowshoeing on ice, a day of winter survival training and winter survival scenarios, and two days of backcountry snowshoeing.

Ross said he appreciates being an army cadet, and the opportunities it has provided him.

The Cadet Program has a membership of more than 50,000 young people across Canada. It is a national youth development program that provides tools and activities to prepare youth for the transition to adulthood by instilling the values of fitness, leadership, citizenship, challenge and fun.
