Students getting waxed for charity

Yeouch! Laurentian University's campus will be a lot less hairy after the WAX-4-WUSC fundraiser, set to take place in the student centre starting at noon March 30.

Participants have raised pledges and will be publicly waxed by an esthetician.

The event World University Service of Canada (WUSC) fundraiser for the Uniterra “Bike for Aids” campaign, which purchases bicycle ambulances and contributes to the fight against HIV and AIDS in Malawi.

WUSC is a non-profit organization in international development, committed to building a more equitable and sustainable world.

It works with a network of post-secondary institutions, private-sector partners and volunteers to provide education, employment and empowerment opportunities that improve the lives of millions of disadvantaged youth around the world.

Laurentian University is among 80 post secondary institutions to have a local WUSC committee. The local committee is composed of a group of students, professors and administration that believe and promote WUSC’s vision: “Education changes the world.”
