Future Shop's Canadian stores close

All Future Shop stores in Canada have closed March 28, according to national media reports.

The Globe and Mail said Future Shop has yet to confirm the news.

But a message on the company's app said “Future Shop and Best Buy are consolidating under the Best Buy Brand. That means the products, services and features you have come to expect from FutureShop.ca can be found at BestBuy.ca.”

Minnesota-based Best Buy has been the owner of Future Shop since 2001. Sudbury has one of the stores, located alongside the New Sudbury Centre.

The closure comes on the heels of the impending shut-down of all of the country's Target stores. Sudbury's Target location is set to close for good March 30.
