Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas will honour the Day of Mourning with community members on Tuesday, April 28.

Gélinas will take part in ceremonies to remember workers who were killed, injured or have suffered illness due to workplace conditions.

“Our region was the first to declare April 28 as the official Day of Mourning in Canada and across the world,” said a news release. “They deserve remembrance.”

The Sudbury and District Labour Council will mark the Day of Mourning at 10 a.m. at Laurentian University's Fraser Auditorium.

The United Steelworkers Local 6500 will host a ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at the Steelworkers's Union Hall and Conference Centre at 66 Brady St.
