Serré praises Trudeau plan to up taxes for the rich

Marc Serré, the federal Liberal Party candidate in Nickel Belt, is praising the policy platforms released this week by Leader Justin Trudeau.

In a news release, Serré said the plan aims to “stand up for the middle class and those working hard to join it. The Liberal plan will benefit the people of Nickel Belt by ensuring fairness and economic growth in Canada.

“I’ve spent 40 years in this community, and what I hear when I speak with my friends and neighbours is clear: after almost a decade of Conservative government, people are having to work longer and harder just to make ends meet,” Serré is quoted as saying in the release.

“The Liberal Party of Canada has a plan for fairness. We will give a tax cut to the middle class and give more money to middle-class families to help them raise their kids.”

Trudeau's plan would replace four programs with one larger, tax-free monthly cheque for middle-class and low-income families. He also promised to cut the middle-class tax bracket by seven per cent while raising taxes for those in the top one per cent of incomes.

“Canadians now have two fundamentally different choices,” Serré said in the release. “While the Conservatives offer tax breaks for the wealthiest Canadians, Liberals will deliver tax cuts for the middle class, in addition to one simple, monthly benefit for the families that need it most.

“Liberals will continue presenting solutions for much-needed economic growth in regions all across Canada, including right here in our riding of Nickel Belt. The plan announced by Mr. Trudeau this week will put more money back in the pockets of the middle class and those working hard to join it.”
