Electrical fire at Vale matte processing plant last night

No one was injured in an electrical fire at Vale's matte processing facility in Copper Cliff during the evening of May 5. Twenty-three firefighters from three fire stations responded to the call at around 8:15 p.m.

No one was injured in an electrical fire at Vale's matte processing facility in Copper Cliff during the evening of May 5.

Twenty-three firefighters from three fire stations responded to the call at around 8:15 p.m.

Staff were all evacuated safely and accounted for, according to a press release from Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

Fire and EMS services were required to stand by while multiple processes were shut down to allow the high voltage electrical fire to be safely extinguished.

Once accomplished, the fire was extinguished quickly extinguished without injury. The fire and smoke damage was minor, the press release said.
