Ontario Federation of Labour president Sid Ryan is on the picket lines with striking members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) in Sudbury this morning.

Ryan is currently visiting the picket lines at Lasalle Secondary School, and plans to move on to Confederation Secondary School.

The teachers have been on strike against the Rainbow District school Board since April 27.

"Sudbury teachers are fighting for the learning conditions of high school students across the region. They are standing firm against proposals that would threaten educational quality and take Ontario's school system backwards," said Ryan, in a press release.

"Workers across Ontario are supporting these striking teachers because we reject the false choices that the Wynne Government has put before us. Wynne wants to force Ontarians to choose between healthy schools and public transit, municipal infrastructure versus public hydro.

"These striking teachers in Sudbury, Peel and Durham are on the front lines in a fight for a better Ontario."

The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) represents 54 unions and one million workers in Ontario.
