If you need to recruit a doctor for your community, you want someone like Sudbury’s Ginette Vezina.
That’s why the Canadian Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (CASPR) presented Vezina with this year’s national CASPR Leadership Award.
Vezina is the director of medical and academic affairs at Health Sciences North and the hospital's lead for physician recruitment.
“Ginette brings a wealth of knowledge, commitment and forward thinking and action to the physician recruitment and retention profession,” says Wayne Heide, Administrative Director of the Manitoba Office of Rural and Northern Health and a past member of the CASPR Board of Directors.
Vezina has worked in physician recruitment at HSN since 2000.
“I’m honoured to receive this award and be recognized by my peers for the work our physician recruitment team is doing in Greater Sudbury,” Vezina said. “We’ve enjoyed tremendous success in the last decade, and we are seeing that, increasingly, Sudbury is becoming a destination of choice for top-level talent in Canada.”
Every year HSN partners with the City of Greater Sudbury and the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce to recruit physicians to the city. Since 2000, 214 physicians have established practices in Greater Sudbury.
“Congratulations to Ginette on receiving this national recognition, it is certainly deserved,” said Dr. Chris Bourdon, HSN’s chief of staff and vice-president of medical and academic affairs.
