Most of the region is experiencing a low to high hazard, with a majority of northeastern Ontario falling within the moderate to high range, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said in a news release this afternoon.

With conditions as they are, the public is advised, as always, to exercise caution when enjoying fire-related activities.

As of June 2, there are currently no active forest fires in the region.

Meanwhile, Ontario continues to support Alberta and Yukon firefighting efforts, the MNRF said today. Currently, there are 143 personnel in Alberta along with pumps and hose equipment from Ontario, and 74 personnel in Yukon.

They are stationed in the areas of Lac La Biche, Whitecourt and Fort Chippewa and the aerial ignition team is assigned to the Lac La Biche and Fort McMurray areas.

The Yukon deployment includes 18 four-person Initial Attack crews and agency representatives. The crews are working fires in the Watson Lake, Carmacks and Mayo areas.
