The province is investing in a project to help build a Francophone cultural complex in Sudbury, providing a venue for community groups and cultural events.

With an investment of $50,000 from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the Regroupement des organismes culturels de Sudbury (ROCS) is conducting a study on how to proceed with the construction of the Place des Arts.

The project would bring research, creation, production and presenting facilities together to serve the region’s arts and culture organizations.

“I have always had a fond appreciation of the contributions Francophone culture have made to our community in Sudbury,” said Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault, in a press release.

“I look forward to hearing the results of the feasibility study and will continue to work with our partners in the Francophone community to ensure its vibrant culture continues to be an integral part of our community.”
