Nineteen kids are the proud owners of new bicycles thanks to Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union's fourth annual bicycle giveaway.

The recipients are all participants in the School Caisse program, billed as an innovative way to instil sound money management skills in kids.

It allows them to count their own money, calculate their total deposit and fill out their own deposit envelope.

A draw was held in the 19 schools that participate in the School Caisse program. More than 600 students participated in the program this year.

“The bicycle draw in each of the schools encourages children to become involved in the program and motivates them to make regular deposits,” said Jean-Marc Spencer, executive director of Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union, in a press release.

“We would like to thank all of the employees from the credit union and the schools that helped with the operation of the School Caisse. Without them, the School Caisse wouldn't exist.”
