Less than a day after city council voted to repeal the city's three store hours bylaws, a spokesperson for Loblaws confirmed the Real Canadian Superstore on Lasalle Boulevard will be open around the clock, beginning Friday (Dec. 12).

Workers with the United Food and Commercial union Local 1000a are expected to go on strike July 5.

The union represents 61 Loblaw Companies Limited stores across Ontario – which include some Superstore and Independent Grocer locations.

But the chain's Sudbury stores aren't covered by the union local.
United Food and Commercial union Local 1000a represents around 12,000 employees at Loblaw’s stores across the province.

Most of the affected stores are in the Greater Toronto Area.

Sixty-one per cent of union members rejected a tentative agreement with Loblaw at ratification meetings held June 14 to June 20.

“Following the vote, we informed the company of the membership’s rejection of the tentative agreement and advised we were seeking to return to the negotiating table,” the union said in a press release.

“This morning (June 26), the company advised that they are not prepared to return to the bargaining table.”
