R.I.D.E Program reports 15 HTA violations

The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) conducted a R.I.D.E. program check stop on July 4 and checked nearly 400 drivers. During the check stop, officers conducted three standard field sobriety tests, all of which passed.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) conducted a R.I.D.E. program check stop on July 4 and checked nearly 400 drivers.

During the check stop, officers conducted three standard field sobriety tests, all of which passed. There were no criminal code offences reported.

Among the 386 vehicles that the checked at three different locations, 15 were in violation of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Violations included, a driver with an M1 motorcycle license driving after hours, a G2 driver with more passengers than seatbelts, and numerous document infractions.

The GSPS had check stops set up at Regent Street at Ramsey View Court, Bancroft Drive at Brentwood Court and Bancroft Drive and Downing Street.

The R.I.D.E. Program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving. R.I.D.E. Checks are intended to target high-incident/high-complaint areas.
