Environment Canada has issued another heat warning for Greater Sudbury, as temperatures are expected to soar to 33 C today.

The rest of the work week will also be hot, with Wednesday expected to reach 30 C, Thursday 28 C and Friday 25 C. The weekend is expected to be cooler, with a temperature of 21 C predicted for both Saturday and Sunday.

“Very warm temperatures are expected to continue today,” the heat warning reads.

“Daytime highs in the 29 to 33 degree range are expected followed by another warm night tonight. Communities close to the shores of Lake Superior should be somewhat cooler and have not been included in the Heat Alert.

“The heat is expected to ease on Wednesday in all but Northeastern Ontario where cooler weather will arrive Wednesday night. Drink plenty of liquids especially water before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration.

“Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.

“Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.”
