On Aug. 21, the achievements of 13 Line Crew Ground Support Training Certificate graduates were recognized as they prepared to launch entry-level careers in the powerline and construction industries.

The celebration was held at Fontaine Bleue at Cambrian College’s Barrydowne campus.

The graduates have completed safety modules and hands-on training in job site tasks, including pole line construction, working at heights, hoisting and rigging, and crane operation, in order to prepare for opportunities with power and construction companies.

Ron Sarazin, Special Projects Coordinator, Gezhtoojig Employment & Training said that 80 per cent of the graduates find employment in the field after completion of this free 15-week program.

The graduates are not only from Sudbury, but come from other parts of the northeast and Ontario.

For further information, email Ron Sarazin, Special Projects Coordinator, Gezhtoojig Employment & Training at [email protected].

This program is made possible by the Ontario Government Youth Skills Connections Program, part of the Ontario Youth Job Strategy, and Gezhtoojig Employment & Training, in partnership with the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) and Cambrian College.
