Sudbury's Gregorini family plans to celebrate the past 20 years of Italian culture and food in Sudbury, and raise money for a good cause in the process.

The Gioia di Vivere, or Joie de Vivre, will raise funds for Health Sciences North's simulation lab, which helps teach physicians and medical students to perform a large number of medical procedures.

The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Natura events hall adjacent to Verdicchio Ristorante on Kelly Lake Road.

The hospital's simulation lab was recently featured in an episode of the Amazing Race Canada, where contestants had to perform CPR on a high-tech mannequin.

Mary Lou Hussak, executive director of the HSN Foundation, said the fundraiser will help the hospital move the simulation lab from its current temporary location, at the Sudbury Outpatient Centre on Regent Street, to a new 20,000-square foot facility at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre.

The hospital is expected to begin construction on the new learners centre in the spring.
In addition to a wide variety of Italian food and drink, Thursday's event will also feature live music by the Philip May Jazz Trio.

To purchase tickets, which cost $250 each – call the HSN Foundation at 705-523-7130, or visit the Joie de Vivre website.
