If you happen to notice the moon appears to be larger than usual this Saturday night, you're not imagining things.

There will be a supermoon Aug. 29. This is the coincidence of a full moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.

Due to its proximity to the earth, a supermoon appears about seven per cent larger than an average full moon.

The best time to enjoy a supermoon is after moonrise, when the moon is just above the horizon, weather permitting.
