Cambrian College is conducting a lockdown drill Oct. 5 at its Barrydowne campus to test its emergency preparedness. The time of the test will not be announced to students and staff in advance of the drill.
“These drills familiarize our students, staff and visitors with the communication systems and proper procedures that are used in the event of an emergency that requires a campus-wide lockdown,” said John Hammill, Manager of Safety and Security Services at Cambrian College.
The objective of the exercise is to ensure that the college’s lockdown plan is efficient and effective and those on campus know how to safely respond when a lockdown is triggered. The college holds regular lockdown exercises as part of its commitment to campus-wide emergency preparedness.
Visitors to the campus are reminded that this is an exercise and not an actual emergency.
