Scientists with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health will present their findings on two local studies at an open house event scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7.

The scientists interviewed residents in Chelmsford and downtown Sudbury for several months in 2013 and 2014.

In the first study they conducted a survey of local residents on stress, substance use, mental health and experiences of violence, and their service use for these issues. In the second project, data were collected on people's experiences getting help for mental health, substance use and violence problems, as well as service provider perspectives on how the system can be improved.

“We worked closely with local partner agencies to develop the study so that the findings could be used by the community,” said Centre for Addiction and Mental Health scientist Dr. Samantha Wells, in a press release. “We also hope the data can be used by communities to improve local services.”

The open house will take place at the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot, located at 86 Elm Street, from 10 a.m. to noon.
