The marathon federal election campaign is headed into the final two weeks, and while voting day is Oct. 19, residents can start casting ballots Friday.

Advance polling for Sudbury and Nickel Belt runs Oct. 9-12 each day between noon and 8 p.m. There are several advance polling stations in each riding. To find out which is nearest you, go to the website Elections.ca (http://www.elections.ca/). Once you click on the English or French version of the page, there's a box where you can enter your postal code.

That will bring up a page with links to answer a range of questions you may have, including advance poll locations.

It also provides information on what to do if you haven't yet received your voter information card, which voters should have received by Oct. 1. And anyone who wants to vote by mail can get information on how to do that, as well.

To vote in the advance poll – or on election day – you much show one of the following: your driver's licence; your provincial or territorial ID card; or, any other government card with your photo, name and current address.

If you don't have any of that, you must show two pieces of ID from the dozens of acceptable forms, including your health card, hospital card, label on a prescription container or your credit card. At least one of them must have your current address.

Failing that, you can still vote if you show two pieces of ID with your name and have someone who knows you attest to your address. That person must show proof of identity and address, be registered in the same polling division, and attest for only one person.
