For the first time in Sudbury, March of Dimes Canada will host a Living with Disabilities conference to inspire those living with disabilities to live more independently.

“It's something we do throughout the agency, but this is the first time we're going to be having it in Sudbury,” said Melanie Mach, program manager for March of Dimes in Sudbury.

The conference is schedule to take place Oct. 20 at the Howard Johnson Plaza on Brady Street.

Participants must register in advance for the talks they wish to attend.

Discussion topics include aging gracefully, understanding the disability tax credit, pain management and fall prevention.

There is a $15 fee for those with a disability or their caregivers and family members to participate, and a $30 fee for health-care professionals to attend.

Mach said they can accommodate around 80 people, and have already signed up more than 40 participants.

The deadline to register is Oct. 9.
