The New Sudbury Ward 12 Community Action Network (CAN) will host a public meeting on Oct. 8 to present plans for a community centre in New Sudbury.

The meeting will be held in the gymnasium of Carl Nesbitt School on Roy Street and will start at 6 p.m.

With three schools closing in New Sudbury, the CAN has proposed to use a vacant building as a service hub for the more than 24,000 residents who call New Sudbury home.

The vision is to have an all-inclusive meeting place that would offer healthy activities, accessible sports training, art programs, workshops, space for community groups and various community services.

Members of the public are invited to come out and share their ideas.
