The City of Greater Sudbury is looking for some input on what to do with the property that was the home of the former Long Lake Public School.

Thanks to the donation of Lily Fielding, the city was able to purchase the former school from the Rainbow District School Board.

In the coming months, the building will be coming down and the grounds remediated.

“Mrs. Fielding is also donating the funds required for this work," said Ward 9 Councillor Deb McIntosh. "Costs to maintain, operate and repair the building were prohibitive, so unfortunately, we will have to say goodbye to the community loved school building.”

The community is asked to start thinking about what they would like to see in the enlarged parkland space and watch for a community meeting in the winter/spring of 2016 to share ideas.

The cty is also encouraging former teachers and students to get themselves over to the school for a “selfie” with the building before it is gone.
