A life-sized, 600-plus pound bronze Stompin' Tom statue created by local sculptor Tyler Fauvelle will be unveiled in front of the Sudbury Arena at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 5.

“We did this because of one of (Stompin' Tom's) most famous songs 'Sudbury Saturday Night' will forever connect him to this city's history,” said Fauvelle, at an event at Northern Lights Festival Boreal back in July, when people got a sneak peek of the statue.

“He was the people's poet, we wanted to remember him and his true Canadian voice for generations to come.”

The Stompin' Tom Commemorative Committee has been raising funds through crowd-sourcing and events to pay for the statue's $50,000 cost.
