Chelmsford Legion marks Remembrance Day early (4 photos)

Chelmsford Royal Canadian Legion Branch 553 held its Remembrance Day service on Saturday, in advance of Nov. 11.

Legion members, cadets and dignitaries gathered at the Legion on Errington Avenue and marched to the cenotaph at Cote Park. There, wreaths were laid at the base of the cenotaph, and the names of Legion members who passed away over the last year were read.

Another Remembrance Day ceremony is scheduled for today at the Naughton Community Centre.
Meanwhile, Legions throughout Greater Sudbury are preparing for the Nov. 11 ceremony at the Sudbury Arena. That service gets underway at 10:35 a.m.

For those who aren't able to attend the service, NorthernLife.ca will be streaming it live.

Need a ride to the Sudbury Arena for the Remembrance Day ceremony? A shuttle bus leaves Branch 76 Royal Canadian Legion, 1553 Weller St., at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11.

The bus returns to Branch 76 at 12:15pm.

Soup, sandwiches and refreshments will be served at Branch 76 following the Remembrance Day service.

Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place throughout Greater Sudbury on Nov. 11 include:

-Capreol RCL Branch – Capreol Cenotaph, 10:25 a.m;

-Falconbridge-Garson RCL 336, 66 Edison Rd. 10:45 a.m.;

-Levack-Onaping RCL 503, 2 Hillside Ave., 1:45 p.m.
