A popular downtown restaurant damaged in March 2014 while it was undergoing renovations is reopening this weekend.

A reopening party for The Durham Social — formerly known as Respect is Burning Supperclub — will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 and 14 with food and entertainment.

After the reopening party, the restaurant begins its regular service as of Nov. 17.

“After 15 amazing years of fantastic food, the constant buzz of beautiful friends and family gatherings, and countless memories shared in our Downtown, The Durham Social (housing the former Respect is Burning Supperclub) went lights out after a brutal blaze in March of 2014,” said a Facebook event for the reopening.

“What's happened since? A twisted long road, loads of high level drama and mountains of determination backed by our community...and now, the New Story!

“Entertaining Large and Small Groups of Great People in a Refreshingly Easy and Entirely Different Style - the mantra since the beginnings in 2001 stays true. BUT - The Game has changed again, and we'd love to roll it out with you.”

Tickets to the event, which cost $30.61, are available online at Event Brite.
