Environment is tracking a weather system that could bring heavy snow to the Greater Sudbury area that will likely hit late Saturday into Sunday morning.

An area of snow is expected to move into Northeastern Ontario late in the day Saturday and continue through the night. The snow will likely be heavy at times and current guidance suggests that 10 to 20 cm of snow may be possible by Sunday morning.

Snowfall warnings may be required. There is still uncertainty in the intensity and track of this system.

Environment Canada meteorologists are watching its development closely and will issue further statements or alerts as required.
