CEO of HSN's research arm has just resigned

Dr. Francisco Diaz-Mitoma is no longer the CEO and scientific director of the Advanced Medical Research Institute of Canada (AMRIC).

AMRIC broke the news this afternoon in a news release, which stated:

Today the AMRIC Board of Directors announced that Dr. Francisco Diaz-Mitoma has resigned from his position as CEO and Scientific Director at the Advanced Medical Research Institute of Canada (AMRIC). Dr. Diaz-Mitoma’s resignation is effective immediately.

The AMRIC Board of Directors will initiate a recruitment process for a CEO. In the interim, Dr. Denis Roy, President and CEO of Health Sciences North, will preside over the operations at AMRIC. Dr. Janet McElhaney, the HSN Volunteer Association Chair in Healthy Aging, will assume the role of Interim Scientific Director.

Nicole Everest, Chair of the AMRIC Board, stated: “We are proud of the work our researchers perform in investigating and developing promising new treatments for health conditions of concern in northern Ontario. AMRIC is becoming a significant economic driver for our city, and we look forward to the continued positive impact AMRIC will have in our community.”
