McKeil Marine Limited and Nadro Marine Services Limited have reported the successful recovery of a Komatsu 465-7 off-highway truck from the Killarney Channel on Dec. 17.

The recovery operation started at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 17 with the arrival of the tug Ecosse and barge Canadian Jubilee, which was equipped with a Manitowoc 999 crawler crane.

Divers from Galcon Marine Limited attached rigging installed on the truck earlier in the  week.  The truck had settled on its side, so the recovery operation first required that the truck be rotated back onto its wheels.  The vehicle was then re-rigged and lifted to the deck of the barge.

The tug and barge combination then backed down the channel and positioned itself at the off load position, where operations we stopped for the evening due to the onset of darkness.
