Take the plunge with Greater Sudbury Police

Greater Sudbury Police Service will be hosting their third annual Polar Plunge on March 5 in partnership with HOT 93.5 and the Sudbury Police Association.

The Polar Plunge allows participants the opportunity to jump into the frigid waters of Ramsey Lake in order to raise awareness for Special Olympics Ontario.

Participants will be able to raise money before the event and then show up in costume, accompanied by family, friends and work colleagues for support.

Once they take the plunge, they will receive a complimentary toque and mittens, in addition to qualifying for various prizes. A complimentary reception will follow.

The top fundraiser will receive an iPad and there will be prizes awarded to the best costume and most spirited team.

For any individual raising $2,500 or more, they will have their name entered into a contest for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to the ultimate Polar Plunge in the polar capital of the world; Churchill, Manitoba.

“I would like to challenge all of the leaders in the community to take the plunge. If you can’t, or won’t, plunge then please donate,” said GSPS Chief Paul Pedersen.

“It is a great opportunity to raise awareness for Special Olympics Ontario.”

Registration packages are available at the Records Branch of the Greater Sudbury Police Service, 190 Brady Street.
