Watson lost her short battle with cancer on Feb. 3, 2016. She started working for the Wolves in the 1970s.

“Mrs. Watson will long be remembered for her hardwork and dedication to the Sudbury Wolves organization and the community of Sudbury,” said the Wolves’ press release. “Mrs Watson developed a lifelong friendship with Wolves' Joan Burgess, and together, they volunteered countless hours to the Sudbury Food Bank over the past several years.”

She had a unique ability to welcome new players to the community, the Wolves said.

On Friday. Feb. 12, there will be a moment of silence in her memory before the Wolves’ home game against the Saginaw Spirit.
