For the very first time, a Collège Boréal faculty member has a research article published in the scientific journal Physics Essays.

An article by Louis Rancourt, a professor in Boréal’s School of Trades and Applied Technology, appears in the journal’s December edition.

“This is a proud moment for Collège Boréal, because we are celebrating a culminating point in a college career that has led to published research in a world-renowned scientific journal,” Collège Boréal president Denis Hubert-Dutrisac said, in a press release.

“Thanks to its outstanding professors and partnerships in its various communities, Collège Boréal has become, in just a few years, a major player in the area of applied research.”

Rancourt said he's spent 50 years exploring the nature of gravity.

“The article I have just published demonstrates that light obstructs gravity,” he said.

“I have named this effect the Boréal Effect. After a lifetime of work in education, my wish is that my observations will open doors to new research avenues and useful applications for the scientific community.”

Recently, Collège Boréal also welcomed Anne Poisson as its new manager of applied research.

A native of northern Ontario, Poisson was a member of the start-up team that led to the establishment of Collège Boréal in 1995.

With more than 15 years of experience in project management, Poisson’s notable accomplishments include her work in Ottawa as the co-ordinator of the national research component for the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS).
