Immaculate Conception Catholic Elementary School has been chosen as a new site for Hanmer Best Start's new Valley East Outreach program.

To kick off the program, a Free Family Zumba event was held at the school Jan. 16.

Many families, from toddlers to grandparents, came dressed and ready to "zumba-cise.”

The participants went home smiling and fully energized by the experience, according to a press release.

The Valley East Outreach program will be delivered in English; however, some French-language activities will be offered.

It will open its doors starting Feb. 2. Play group activities will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on weekdays.

A variety of early-learning activities will be offered to children and their parents or caregivers.

There will be an opportunity to network with other parents and learn simple literacy and numeracy activities to play with their children at home.

In addition, a wide variety of free workshops, programs and services will also be offered to parents and caregivers at this site.

For more information, phone 705-969-8888 or 705-897-4483.
