Ron Dupuis was appointed chair of the Sudbury and Distrct Health Unit (SDHU) board for 2014.

Dupuis, who is also the Greater Sudbury councillor for Ward 5, served as the health unit's chair five times previously, including last year. He also served five terms as the board's vice-chair and two terms as an executive committee member.

The board postponed the appointment of a vice-chair because not all nominees were present.

In the same board meeting Troy Haslehurst-Walker, the SDHU's manager of human resources, presented on the organization's compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

The act ensures workplaces provide barrier-free environments for people with disabilities. That access includes ensuring the fonts on documents are large enough for people with poor vision, and making the website compatible with screen readers.

“It's not just about complying with the law, it's also about doing what's right."
