First of two bike exchanges set for Saturday

The third annual children’s bike exchange will be taking place May 10 and May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tom Davies Square.

Children can trade in their outgrown bicycle for a gently used one of the correct size. Bicycles are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, sizes and quantities may vary.

Bicycles used for the exchange are donated by the community and then volunteers conduct a safety inspection and equip them with a bell and reflective tape before giving them to a child in need. Families who do not have bicycles to trade in may receive a bike by making a token donation to help support the project.

The success of the exchange relies heavily on support from the community to donate gently used bikes prior to each event. To donate bicycles, please drop them off at the Sudbury & District Health Unit between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, or the day of the event. For details visit www.sudburycycles.ca.
