MARKHAM, Ont. - A man arrested in New Brunswick in connection with a shooting outside a pub north of Toronto has been returned to Ontario where he faces numerous charges.

York Regional Police say Sirvon Edwards, 31, faces charges including attempted murder in connection with the May 8 shooting in Markham.

Officers called to the scene found a 22-year-old Toronto man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police say Edwards fled the scene and was arrested in New Brunswick on Monday before being taken into custody on Thursday by York Regional Police.

Edwards is also charged with discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failing to comply with recognizance and several other weapons-related charges.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and they are hoping to speak with any witnesses who have not yet come forward.
