QUEBEC - Pierre Karl Peladeau is at the national assembly in a wheelchair today, a week after suffering multiple fractures in a cycling accident.

Peladeau told a news conference in Quebec City he is looking forward to representing the residents of his Saint-Jerome riding north of Montreal.

He is expected to be in a wheelchair for about three months after the May 18 accident.

The majority owner of Quebecor Inc. (TSX:QBR.B) says his health has been improving on a daily basis and that he left hospital last Friday.

Peladeau was wearing a helmet when he took a tumble in the Eastern Townships, fracturing his hip and collarbone as well as several ribs.

He said his head was the first part of his body to hit the tarmac and that he probably wouldn't be around today if he had not been wearing the helmet.
