Nick McGrath (mac-GRAW') says he's as upset as residents in coastal communities like Hopedale and Makkovik (mah-KOH'-vick) over long waits for food shipments.
He says he's looking into how mechanical and logistical issues with contracted ferry services could have been avoided.
Hopedale Mayor Wayne Piercy says the community of 650 is down to very few canned items for sale in its two stores.
He says the last major ferry delivery was in late November and that supplies have been running low since Easter.
Piercy says some fresh produce is flown in once a week but he's worried that children especially aren't getting the nutrition they should.
