Has a shark invaded Lake Ontario?

TORONTO - Is it a shark? Is it a porpoise? Or is it Ontario's version of the Loch Ness monster?

Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, a video has surfaced of what appears to be a strange finned creature swimming in Lake Ontario.

The province's governing Liberals say they don't know what it is and haven't sent anyone yet to investigate reports that it came close to shore near Kingston, Ont.

But Natural Resources Minister Bill Mauro says people should stay safe and report any sightings of the animal.

The Progressive Conservatives joked that it's probably a Liberal that's lost its way and should be brought back into the fold.

Meanwhile, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says there's little she can do — her party has more experience with sharks in the legislature than those in the water.
