A 20-year-old Sudbury man who turned himself into Greater Sudbury Police Nov. 16 was found to be in possession of oxycontin while being processed by officers.

Devin Charbonneau, who had been wanted in connection to an Oct. 27 incident, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The man had turned himself in after realizing he was the subject of a Nov. 5 Fugitive of the Week  news release from Crime Stoppers. He had been wanted by Greater Sudbury Police for failing to remain at the scene of an accident, public mischief and various other charges.

During the Oct. 27 incident, a Blazer and a Saturn collided at the intersection of Regent and Douglas Streets.

The two drivers spoke briefly, before the driver of the Blazer returned to his vehicle and left the scene, without providing any information to the other driver. The owner of the Blazer involved in the accident contacted police shortly past 5 p.m. the same day to report the vehicle stolen.

Charbonneau was due to appear in bail court Nov. 16.
