A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a single snowmobile accident on Ramsey Lake Feb. 7 just after 6 p.m.

The lone operator of the machine was eastbound on the snowmobile in the vicinity of Portage Avenue, when he lost control and struck an island. Nearby ice fishermen notified police and provided assistance to responding emergency personnel.

The man was rushed to St. Joseph’s Health centre where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Traffic Unit of the Greater Sudbury Police Service

  • Am I the only one who can't understand why there is no police or MNR on this lake? People are racing cars and trucks all over the lake and creating huge cracks all over..One guy in a black chev pickup flew by our hut going at least 80-90km/h on Sunday..the ice is full of ruts..all he needs to do is hit one of the ruts, go sideways and hit someone..we are just waiting for a car or truck to flip over at high speeds..there is barely any snow on the lake but yet snow machines are racing back and forth on pure ice with no traction?! people need to respect this lake and not ruin it for those who enjoy it..it's just common sense! stop littering and pick up your garbage when you leave! Hopefully this person will be ok.
