Acting on tips received in February, police began an investigation into a 57-year-old Greater Sudbury man who allegedly owned sexually graphic pictures and videos of young children.
A search warrant was executed, and police seized a computer that Greater Sudbury Police state contained the images and videos in question.
According to a press release issued by the police, the man was arrested March 8 without incident, but during the arrest police found several unsecured firearms.
One was a loaded assault rifle. None of the weapons were registered, nor did the accused have a licence to possess them.
He is scheduled to appear in bail court March 9, and will answer to a count each of possession of child pornography, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of prohibited ammunition, unsafe storage of firearms and ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and five counts of unsafe storage of a firearm.
