Two laptops were stolen from the new Walmart in the South End around 12:40 p.m. today, March 12.

A man and a woman entered the store, and left with two laptops. The value of the two computers is estimated at about $1,100.

The two left in an older model purple-coloured van, heading towards the four corners.

A dealer plate hanging in the rear of the vehicle hid part of the van's actual licence, but the first three letters are BFR.

A description of the two suspects has not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Greater Sudbury Police at 675-9171, or Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS(8477).

  • I was once a security employee at Wal*Mart....trust me they have full of video on this pair & are just waiting till the cops find them now.

  • I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a stolen laptop to phone home It doesn't take an 'expert' from -Sudbury Tech Solutions- to know that PCs (WindowsTM) are notoriously insecure, and that any security or DRM software is easily defeated with alternate live OSes. Furthermore, trying to gain customers from anothers' misfortune is bad business sudburian. As a certified tech since the 90's, i know many people use laptops/netbooks for net & social networking only - and a brand name pc from Wall*Mart is often all they need. ;)

  • Sudburian ... so it's OK to steal from Walmart??

You have just lost me as a customer from your business forever.

I hope your boss reads this.

  • This shouldn't be made of as such a fuss, it's Wal-mart for one, and 2. those thieves are pretty lame if they steal laptops from a chain store = garbage laptop to begin with. The technology you're talking about bidzey most certainly doesn't exist in products sold at Wal-Mart. BTW. If anybody wants to purcahse a real laptop WITH this technology, contact a sales rep at Sudbury Tech Solutions :) I work for the best company in town and I know for a fact, as an IT Technician/Expert, our laptops beat all the big store products.

  • even if I was a thief, I would be hesitant to steel a laptop, in a IT dept I work for, I know a laptop can easily be traced as soon as it's connected to the internet. If that technology is installed in those 2 laptops they are going to be caught... but maybe BFR is acronymn for Best For Resell... sorry bad joke :)
