Sparks set water treatment plant roof aflame

The roof of the Wahnipitae Water Treatment Plant suffered moderate fire, smoke and heat damage on March 17, around 6 p.m., after workers accidentally set the roof on fire.

Work was being done to repair the roof, and sparks from the work caused the tar and composite roof to catch on fire, explained Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

The fire was contained to the roof, and no one suffered any injuries.
