Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is offering a guaranteed $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in arson incidents in the Dennie Street area of Capreol.

Sometime around June 27, the person or persons involved in the incidents set several hydro poles on fire. The fire charred the lower areas of the poles, and the damage done required the poles to be replaced.

In a press release, Crime Stoppers said it believes people in the community may have information about these incidents, and have secured a guaranteed reward for tips that lead to arrest.

Any tips received before midnight on July 12 that result in an arrest will be guaranteed a $1,000 reward.

Tips received after the deadline will folllow the standard process to determine reward eligibility.

Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous and provide information in this incident or any other criminal activity are asked to contact Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers by phone at 222-TIPS (8477), online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com, or by text message to CRIMES (274637), starting with the word TIPSUD.

  • Going to jail in Sudbury for arson, drunk driving, driving without a license, assaults, break ins is a rarity. Come up with some excuse and you might get house arrest. Look at the ones who are continually arrested for crimes and they have breached their probation not once, twice or three times. Until our justice system gets serious crime won't change. They know nothing will happen. Far too many bleeding heart lawyers / judges.

  • I hope that the Police find who did all the damage on the hydro poles. If they find out who is responsible for doing all the damage, I certaionly hope that those stupid criminals get sent to jail for years. It just goes to show us that whoever did the damage have no brains at all.

  • Such destruction also endangers the lives of the brave men and women who have to perform work on these poles, which is a dangerous job as it is. Also these poles could have fallen, cutting off communications and hydro, or they could have fallen on someone or wires could have electrocuted somebody. Forget the value of the poles, someone could have died.

  • Right on Bill_1, that is what will happen..Always does,,look at the Vale strike,, damage to peoples property and no one arrested,,in one case they were told who done it and nothing happened,,not even picked up for questions,,so it is not only the court system that is lacking......

  • So they pay the informant, catch the person, go to court and the judge prohibits them from buying or playing with matches. Case resolved. In Sudbury no reimbursing hydro or anything. Typical day in a Sudbury courtroom.
