A 74-year-old woman has died following a three-vehicle crash about three kilometres of the Hwy 17/69 interchange on Aug. 17.

Henriette Prevost, who was driving a Toyota Corolla, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Preliminary investigation indicated the car veered into the westbound lane and was struck head-on by a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the tractor trailer lost control of his vehicle after it struck the Corolla and it sideswiped another vehicle before it ran off the road and into a deep ravine, according to the Sudbury branch of the OPP.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries in the accident, as did the two occupants of the third vehicle. Prevost was the only passenger in the first vehicle.

The accident closed the bypass until 8 p.m. that day. For further developments on this story, visit NorthernLife.ca.
